Football League fans are being encouraged to support Climate Week 2011 by using a carshare website designed to reduce carbon emissions.

An annual attempt to combat climate change, Climate Week (21-27 March) allows everyone to do their bit in helping protect the planet by utilising greener forms of transport.

And as part of that, 'Football Carshare' gives fans a free, easy and convenient way to cut travel costs, whilst also reducing their carbon output by signing up to share journeys to games.

Supporters of all 92 professional football clubs in England and Wales, plus fans from the Scottish Leagues and non-league clubs can enter their details via to meet fellow fans looking to share the journey to a match.

Club community schemes across The Football League are already looking at ways of reducing the effects of matchday transport on the environment, such as Doncaster Rovers where stadium car park spaces are only available if three or more people are travelling together.

Many clubs are also looking at Football Carshare as a viable option to combating climate change and encouraging fans to use the service via their websites can help contribute towards their Bronze, Silver and Gold Accreditation.
