The FA has announced Keith Lamb has joined its Board of Directors, having been nominated by The Football League as one of its representatives.

Lamb is currently a non-executive Director at Middlesbrough, where he has also previously served as Chief Executive Officer.

He replaces David Sheepshanks as one of The Football League's two representatives, alongside Barnet Chairman Anthony Kleanthous. Mr Sheepshanks stepped down from his role at this month's Board meeting to concentrate on his position as Chairman of St. George's Park.

Mr Lamb will also chair the Professional Game Board as of next month.

FA Chairman, David Bernstein, said: "I am naturally very pleased that someone of the calibre and experience of Keith has been appointed to The FA Board.

"Keith has been a passionate and tireless member of our Council and International Committee and he will inspire confidence in his colleagues that he has the very best interests of our national game at heart."

Speaking of his appointment, Mr Lamb added: "I am delighted to be invited on to the main FA Board and hope that I can help further the development of the game in England.

"I am very much an Englishman who is desperate to see all representative England teams do well on the international stage, building all the way from the important grassroots to the development of the game through a strong league pyramid.

"The FA is a fantastic organisation with great people and energy and I will be proud to serve on its Board."

The news follows the recent (28 June) announcement of the FA Council's approval, in principle, to the appointment of two independent non-executive Directors to the FA Board.
