On Friday October 26th, as part of the Racing Post weekend at Doncaster Racecourse, Prostate Cancer UK is hosting the annual Football League Mascot Race.

They cheer your team on, they build you up when you're down and they embody exactly what your club is about.

And this year, your team isn't the only team they are supporting. They are helping fight the most common cancer in men, a disease that claims the lives of one man every hour of every day.

2012 has been a year of sporting triumphs in the United Kingdom including Usain Bolt and Jonnie Peacock making their mark at the Olympics and Paralympics with scintillating sprints. That was just building to the biggest sprint of the year, though.

Last season, Notts County's Mr Magpie was triumphant so he, and his lovely partner Mrs Magpie, returns to defend the title but who will challenge this year?

Will there be any fallen heroes? Who's got the best start? And who has what it takes to go down in mascot history in this illustrious year of sport?

Stay tuned for updates on who's involved but why don't you share your best mascot memories or tell us why you think your mascot could win. To do so, tweet @ProstateUK using the hashtag #mascotmemories.

You can also text PROSTATE9 and your mascot's name to 70004, making a £3* donation to Prostate Cancer UK. Not only will you be helping us fight the most common cancer in men but you'll be showing your support to your mascot.
