Legendary former Watford, AC Milan and England striker Luther Blissett led a team of football fans off on a fundraising cycle ride from London to Amsterdam for Prostate Cancer UK.

The team set off on the epic 155-mile journey from Wembley Stadium, with the route passing through the picturesque countryside of rural England before crossing the Channel from Harwich and arriving on the flat landscape of Dutch Zeeland.

The two-day cycle will see the team arrive in Amsterdam's Dam Square on the afternoon of Saturday 15th June, and will raise vital funds for Prostate Cancer UK - The Football League's Official Charity Partner.

With 250,000 men - enough to fill Wembley Stadium three times over - living with prostate cancer in the UK, the epic cycle ride hopes to increase awareness of the disease and help raise funds so that more men survive it and enjoy a better quality of life.

Football legend, Luther Blissett, said: "I am thrilled to be taking on the London to Amsterdam ride in support of Prostate Cancer UK and its Official Charity Partnership with The Football League.

"It's going to be an enormous challenge for all of us but one we're all looking forward to. As well as raising money for prostate cancer, I hope that the ride will help to raise the profile of the disease for the benefit of men's health."

Mark Bishop, Director of Fundraising at Prostate Cancer UK, said: "We are delighted to be staging our first football themed bike ride and thrilled that over 30 football fans have signed up with Luther Blissett to support Prostate Cancer UK.

"More than 40,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year in the UK and every penny raised goes to Prostate Cancer UK to plough into vital research and support services."
