Sheffield United have been confirmed as the next club to participate in Johnstone's Paint Pot Challenge, a new initiative designed to take fan and club engagement to the next level.

Created to test the accuracy of the most competent footballer, the challenge will involve nine Blades players and their manager Danny Wilson, attempting to chip a ball from the corner of the 18-yard box into a huge inflatable paint pot placed on the edge of the six-yard line.

All the action will be caught on camera and uploaded to the official Johnstone's Paint YouTube channel for the competition. Each participant will be awarded either ten points for successfully dinking the ball into the paint pot, or a single point for hitting it.

The Paint Pot Challenge is continuing to visit a number of npower League 1 and and npower League 2 clubs to celebrate Johnstone's Paint's number one vinyl matt emulsion.

Sheffield United will be hoping to topple Doncaster Rovers' score of 14 points, as the club with the most points at the end of the season will win £2,000 worth of Johnstone's Paint product for a club makeover.

Clubs that finish in second and third place will receive £1,000 and £500 worth of Johnstone's Paint product respectively.

And the League 1 Blades are fired up to make an impact. Captain Michael Doyle said: "The lads are very competitive and looking forward to the challenge.

"We are hoping that our accuracy can 'lick' the others and help us carry off the Johnstone's Paint prize - both in the challenge and the Trophy."

Paul Farrell, sponsorship manager for the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, is delighted that Sheffield United are the next club to participate in the challenge.

He said: "Sheffield United is one of the greatest clubs in the country with a fantastic history and fan base, so it's very exciting to have them on board.

"United's players do have a tough score to beat though, as Doncaster Rovers impressed everybody with their 14 points a few weeks ago - we'll just have to wait and see what the Blades can do."
