The First Round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy proved to be a significant one with record crowds turning out to see their teams in action.

Over 60,000 supporters were in attendance across the 16 Round 1 Trophy ties, compared to 47,000 last season, and that included 17,888 at Ashton Gate to watch the Bristol derby, as well as 13,481 at the Molineux to see Wolverhampton Wanderers against Walsall.

Overall, First Round crowds were up by 29% this term with a new record average attendance of 3,801 for the round.

The 16 winning clubs all received £5,000 in prize money and will be in the Second Round draw, which takes place live on Sky Sports' Soccer AM this Saturday at approximately 10:30am.
