What are The Football League Kids & Girls Cup competitions?

Each season The Football League organises two cup competitions for junior footballers from schools across the country (Kids Cup and Girls Cup), with the finals being played in the build-up to some of the biggest matches of the domestic season.

The Football League Kids Cup competition comprises of a six-a-side competition for U11 schoolchildren that culminates in three Wembley finals across the Football League Play-Off weekends in May 2014. The Football League Girls Cup comprises of a six-a-side competition for U13 girls that culminates in the Grand Final played before the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final at Wembley in March 2014.

How do we get to the Final?

The road to the Kids and Girls Cup Finals starts at the beginning of September 2013. Each Football League club across the country will be organising a competition for all their local schools wishing to take part. The winners of each club's local Kids and Girls Cup competitions will then go on to represent that club in area and regional phases of the competition, where they will face schools representing other Football League clubs. If successful in the regional stages your school could eventually represent your local Football League club in the Football League Kids Cup or Girls Cup and play at Wembley Stadium. All the way through the competition there are some great prizes to be won for you and your school.

How much does it cost to take part?

There are no entry fees. We believe that cost should not be a barrier to creating the next generation of football stars and supporters. Furthermore, for schools winning through to the regional finals and beyond, The Football League will help with expenses to ensure that cost does not prevent them competing on a National Level. The League also provides accommodation for the squad, evening meal and travel expenses for any school reaching a final at Wembley.

What do we need to do to take part?

If you want your school team to take part in the Football League Kids Cup, then simply your local Football League club as soon as possible. Clubs will likely be finalising their local competitions between September and November 2013. The club will then provide you with all the information you require to make the necessary arrangements.
