The Managers short-listed for the Coca-Cola Manager of the Month award are as follows:-
For Paul Jewell October saw a major turnaround in his and Derby County's fortunes, as the Rams won three, drew one and lost one. The month began with a 2-1 win at Norwich before Jewell's side beat Plymouth at home and then completed the double over the Canaries, with a 3-1 home win. The draw came against Coventry, while Blackpool were the only team to claim all three points, winning 3-2 at home.
Birmingham City have carried on where they left off last month, and finished October in second place in the table. Like Derby, Alex McLeish's side won three, drawn one and lost one last month, the wins coming against QPR, Crystal Palace and Sheffield Wednesday. The defeat came in the return match at QPR, as they went down 1-0 in Gareth Ainsworth's second match in charge; the draw came away at Burnley.
Simon Davey's Barnsley began the month second bottom of the Championship, with just one win and five points but October saw the start of their climb up the table. A 4-1 win over Doncaster kick started the month but ironically Rovers were 1-0 up when the Tykes went down to 10 men. The sending off of Darren Moore seemed to spark them into life as goals from Foster, Campbell-Ryce, Macken and Hume completed the win. They completed the double over their Yorkshire rivals as well as beating Sheffield Wednesday on their way to an impressive 10 points in October.
Cardiff city went the entire month of October without defeat, securing three wins and one draw which saw them end October third in the table. Dave Jones' side beat Charlton Athletic, Nottingham Forest and Blackpool, while they earned a draw at Watford.
In League 1 Roberto Di Matteo's MK Dons managed four wins in October, beating Millwall, Carlisle, Cheltenham and Leyton Orient while they secured a draw against Crewe, with the only League defeat coming at home to Stockport County.
Paul Trollope's Bristol Rovers have been in excellent form, winning four and drawing one of their five games. They have also been free flowing when it comes to goals, with Rickie Lambert taking his tally to 15 for the season. The wins came against Colchester, Leyton Orient, Oldham and Southend, while they also managed a draw at Huddersfield.
Danny Wilson's Hartlepool had an excellent month in October, winning four of their six games, drawing one and losing the other. They came back from 3-0 down in the opening game of the month against Swindon, to draw 3-3 before coming back from 2-0 down to beat Walsall 3-2 while against Huddersfield they came from behind on three different occasions to win 5-3!
Peterborough Manager Darren Ferguson is the other manager nominated for League 1 after his side ended the month with three wins and three draws, including a 2-0 victory at home to Leeds. The other wins came against Walsall and Huddersfield, while the draws came against Carlisle, Brighton and Crewe.
In League 2 it's been another highly competitive month and naming the Manager of the Month will be a tough job for Chris Kamara.
Peter Taylor's Wycombe Wanderers remain the only team in the Football League still unbeaten after winning two and drawing three in October. The wins came against Wycombe and Accrington Stanley while the draws came against Grimsby, table toppers Darlington and Barnet.
Lincoln City are another team who went through the month unbeaten, amassing an impressive 16 points from six games. Peter Taylor's side secured away wins at Chester, Macclesfield and Bournemouth and home wins against Chesterfield and Gillingham while the draw came at home to Accrington Stanley.
Lee Richardson was feeling a bit of pressure at the start of the month, with just one win in six before October kicked off, but three wins, two draws and one defeat has seen them pushing back up the table. The wins were even more impressive considering they scored an impressive 14 goals, including six at Exeter in a 6-1 win.
Darlington Manager Dave Penney completes the quartet of nominees after his side won four and drew two of their six games. The wins came over Luton, Bradford, Dagenham & Redbridge and Rotherham, while they secured draws against Shrewsbury and Wycombe.
