Mickey Walker will walk over red hot coals for Doncaster Rovers - yes, really!

The Coca-Cola Championship club's Director of Football took part in a sponsored walk over the coals which were glowing at 1250 degrees Farenheit.

He hopes to raise more than £10,000 for the MacMillan Cancer Care charity.

Walker was joined by hot-footed Assistant Manager Richard O'Kelly and the club's Sports Scientist Ross Burbeary.

Walker said: "We haven't had a final tally of the money raised yet but the early indications suggest that it is to be in the thousands.

"The club is always trying its best, as is everybody who represents Rovers.

"I walked on hot coals in an attempt to get the town motivated - not to mention warm my feet up!

"The event was part of a massive charity 'do' to raise money for the MacMillan charity.

"Many of the Rovers supporters groups were present and I'd like to thank everybody for their donations - they are very much appreciated."
