Doncaster Rovers Chairman John Ryan is prepared to turn to divine intervention to help his side beat relegation from the Coca-Cola Championship.

He's thinking about bringing in a priest to bless the Keepmoat Stadium - and the players!

Rovers were promoted from Coca-Cola League 1 last season but have struggled at the higher level and are stuck in the bottom three.

Ryan said: "Generally, we are playing as well as any team in this division. But desperate times call for desperate measures.

"We have played some of the best football seen in the Championship this season. It has been sheer quality and exhilarating and no team has matched us. But we have to put the ball in the back of the net.

"I have thought of bringing in a priest to bless the stadium and, more importantly, bless the team!

"I must have run over 20 black cats and picked up other bad luck curses.

"I am sure our fortunes will change and, from one home win, we will go on a run and pull well clear of the bottom places to ensure we stay in the Championship.

"But in more than 50 years in football I have never experienced anything like what is happening to us right now."
