There is a double header of action from the Football League this weekend, starting at the Walkers Stadium on Saturday.

Leicester City take on Newcastle United in the late kick-off, where both sides will go in search of more points to keep alive their promotion dreams.

Newcastle remain top of the Coca-Cola Championship table but their lead has now been cut to just three points, so by the time they kick off they could be level on points with Nottingham Forest again.

Chris Hughton's side went clear again at the top of the table with a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on Wednesday night, after just 24 hours earlier Forest crushed Queens Park Rangers to go level with 52 points.

Leicester City are just three points off the Play-Off places, in their first season back in the Championship and with games in hand they could be in the top six sooner rather than later.

When the two sides met back in August a solitary strike from Magpies midfielder Danny Guthrie was enough to take the three points.

On Monday night attentions turn to Coca-Cola League 2, where fans of Bury and Rochdale will say the real Manchester derby takes place.

Gigg Lane will be the venue for the 53rd meeting between the two sides but this one has more riding on it than most.

Rochdale currently top the table and sit 11 points clear of Bury, who occupy the first of the Play-Off places and while Keith Hill's side are looking for their first promotion in 41 years, the Shakers would love to return to League 1 in their 125 anniversary year.

Last time the two sides met was at the end of August when second half goals from Joe Thompson, Chris Dagnall and Tom Kennedy secured an impressive 3-0 win for the home side.

Bury go into the game with four wins from their last five matches, the only dropped points coming against Grimsby Town when they were held to a 1-1 draw at Blundell Park.

Rochdale are unbeaten since November 14th, when they went down 3-2 to Chesterfield and since then they have won eight of their 11 matches.

It looks like being an excellent match if the form guide is anything to go on but with the added twist of a derby, anything could happen.
