Oxford United will be playing in the Football League next season after they beat York City in the Blue Square Premier Play-Off final.

The U's won 3-1 at Wembley to earn their return to The League for the first time since 2006.

Matt Green gave Oxford the lead after just 15 minutes when hit an excellent half volley into the top right hand corner, after James Constable pulled  goalkeeper Michael Ingham off his line.

Constable then doubled their advantage six minutes later, scoring his 26th goal of the season.

York were handed a lifeline just before the break when Ryan Clarke, in the Oxford goal, failed to deal with a cross from Ben Purkiss and ended up diverting it into his own net.

Both sides continued to push on, York seeking the equaliser and Chris Wilder's side looking to wrap up the win and it was the latter who did add to their tally, when second half substitute Alfie Potter scored in injury time to set up wild celebrations for the U's.
