The moment has arrived. The fixtures for the 2013/14 Football League season have been released and, as ever, the new campaign will start with some mouthwatering games.

The season kicks-off on Saturday 3rd August 2013 and here we take a look at the main matches for the opening weekend.

In the Championship, two of the three relegated sides start with home games; Queens Park Rangers and Reading are at home to Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich Town respectively, whilst FA Cup winners Wigan Athletic will begin life under Owen Coyle with a trip to Barnsley.

Last gasp League 1 title winners Doncaster Rovers are at home to Blackpool for Paul Dickov's first game in charge, while runners-up Bournemouth will welcome Charlton Athletic to the Goldsands Stadium. Play-Off winners Yeovil Town's historic first match in the second tier of English football will see them travel to face Millwall, who will be under the guidance of Steve Lomas for the first time.

Peterborough United, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Bristol City were relegated from the Championship last season and, as was announced on Tuesday, Kenny Jackett's Wolves will travel to Preston North End for one of six special opening day fixtures that have been selected to mark the 125th anniversary of The Football League.

The Posh and the Robins will start their League 1 campaign at home. Peterborough will entertain Swindon Town, who reached the Play-Off semi-finals last season, while Bristol City face League 2 Play-Off winners Bradford City at Ashton Gate.

Promoted automatically ahead of the Bantams were Port Vale, who finished third, and they start at home with an early test against Brentford, who were beaten in the League 1 Play-Off Final. League 2 runners-up Rotherham United make the trip to Crewe Alexandra while champions Gillingham are at home to Colchester United, who left it late to secure survival last season.

Mansfield Town will mark their return to The Football League with an away fixture at relegated Scunthorpe United in League 2. In another of the games revealed on Tuesday, it was announced that two of The League's newest managers will go head-to-head when Justin Edinburgh's Newport County, promoted via the Conference Play-Offs, will host James Beattie's Accrington Stanley.

Relegated Hartlepool United are another side who will have a new boss in the dug out on the opening day as Colin Cooper takes charge for the first time when Pools travel to Rochdale. Portsmouth will kick-off their first campaign in the fourth tier for 33 years with a home match against Oxford United while Bury, back after two years in League 1, will welcome Chesterfield to Gigg Lane after securing their future during the close season.
