A 3-0 defeat at the hands of already relegated Wycombe Wanderers has seen Gillingham demoted from League 1.

The Gills' loss, coupled with Tranmere Rovers' win at Stockport County by the same scoreline, meant the Kent side were relegated.

A first half injury time goal from Matt Phillips gave the Chairboys the lead and Alan Bennett doubled the advantage after the hour mark. Kevin Betsy then completed the scoring in the 72nd minute to give Gary Waddock's side only their sixth win on home soil this season.

The defeat for Mark Stimson's men, promoted via the Play-Offs last season, means they were the only club in The Football League not to win a match away from home throughout the 2009/10 season.
