Tranmere Rovers will be paying their own tribute to our fallen heroes on Saturday, as they wear specially made shirts to commemorate Remembrance Sunday.

When Rovers host the Milton Keynes Dons in npower League 1 they will be wearing a special one-off home shirt bearing a poppy.

Tranmere Chief Executive Mick Horton said: "Our players are extremely proud to be able to wear this special shirt and delighted to be able to help with the fundraising for such a worthwhile cause.

"We have joined forces with The Royal British Legion over the last few years to raise vital funds and are pleased to be able to recognise those who have served and are currently serving in the Armed Forces with these shirts."

The match worn shirts will be signed after the game and then auctioned off with the proceeds going to the Royal British Legion's poppy appeal.

The club will also be holding a ground collection at the game as well as offering reduced admission prices for current and ex-servicemen and women, who can watch the game for just £5 (tickets must be bought in advance).
