Peterborough United's Craig Mackail-Smith has been named npower League 1 Player of the Month for February.

Mackail-Smith has impressed the London Road faithful with a seven-goal return during the month.

Manager Darren Ferguson said: "Craig has been exceptional since I returned to the football club.

"He has made improvements to his game and is technically better, as his second goal at Oldham Athletic demonstrated.

"Craig is the leading goal-scorer in the division at the minute and long may his good form continue."

Sky Sports' Football League expert Peter Beagrie is on the Player of the Month judging panel.

He said: "Mackail-Smith has helped himself to seven goals in seven games this month.

"The fleet-footed striker is relishing the extra pressure on him since the sale of Aaron Mclean."

npower Head of Sponsorship Emma Collins added: "Mackail-Smith's goals have been a large part of Peterborough's success this year.

"Fans at London Road will be hoping he can maintain his excellent form throughout the rest of the season."
