Sheffield Wednesday moved into the npower League 1 promotion places after taking advantage of their closest rivals' inactivity.
With Charlton Athletic and Huddersfield Town, the top two at the start of play, meeting at the Valley on Monday evening, Wednesday gained ground with a 1-0 win over Leyton Orient thanks to Reda Johnson's 19th minute goal.

Notts County, Brentford and Carlisle United also strengthened their respective hands in the push for the Play-Off places with victories.
County were 3-2 winners over 10-man Scunthorpe United, Jeff Hughes and Julian Kelly seeing them over the line after the Iron's Oliver Norwood was sent off. Scunthorpe had been leading 2-1 at the time of the red card after Andy Barcham and Bobby Grant overhauled Krystian Pearce's opener.
Sam Saunders' penalty earned Brentford a 2-1 win at Rochdale after Gary Alexander's penalty had been equalised by Marcus Holness, while a single Paul Thirlwell strike was enough for Carlisle to beat Colchester United.
Those wins lifted both teams above Stevenage, who were held to a goalless draw against Walsall, while David Amoo earned Bury a 1-0 win over Preston North End to keep them in the picture.
At the bottom, Yeovil Town moved three points clear of the bottom pair with a 1-0 win at Hartlepool United thanks to Bondz N'Gala's first-half goal, while Scot Bennett, Danny Coles and Richard Logan earned Exeter City a 3-0 win over Tranmere Rovers and Bournemouth and Oldham Athletic drew 0-0.
