Sheffield Wednesday defender Miguel Llera has been named npower League 1 Player of the Month for April.

Llera helped keep two clean sheets and scored four goals in five games as his side collected 13 points from a possible 15.

Sheffield Wednesday boss Dave Jones said: "Miguel has been outstanding throughout the month.

"He's played a key role at the back and also at the other end of the pitch, where he has scored four valuable goals."

Sky Sports' Football League expert Peter Beagrie sits on the npower Player of the Month judging panel.

He said: "Llera's form has pushed Wednesday ahead of their neighbours Sheffield United and to within three points of automatic promotion to the npower Championship.

"A colossus at the back, Llera has also got himself forward to provide vital assists and goals during April."

npower Head of Sponsorship Emma Collins said: "Miguel played a vital role at both ends of the pitch last month, strengthening his side's push for Championship football.

"His winning goals against Huddersfield Town and Brentford could prove pivotal at the end of the season.

"On behalf of npower, I'd like to congratulate Miguel, and wish him the best of luck for next season."

The judging panel comprises Sky Sports Football League expert Peter Beagrie, Football League Head of Communications John Nagle, BBC Sport's Mark Clemmit and npower Head of Sponsorship Emma Collins.
