Exeter City may have been relegated this season, but the fans have provided something for the Grecians to celebrate - winning £10,000 for the club via the Fanpower Stadium competition, which was run by The Football League title sponsors npower.

Hosted on Facebook, the competition rewarded the club who had the most fans "take a seat" in the virtual Fanpower Stadium, and therefore achieve the highest attendance.

The Devonshire side ran away with the £10,000 participation pot, with their loyal fans signing up in droves and then taking to Twitter and Facebook to show their support. In the 11-week competition, Exeter City fans signed up and generated nearly 12,000 noise counts mentioning their beloved Grecians.

Fans will now get the opportunity to vote how the prize money is spent within the club at www.facebook.com/npowerfootballleague. Voting closes at midnight on Sun 17 June.

The club has indentified three areas that could potentially benefit from the prize:

- New changing rooms at the Cat & Fiddle training ground for the Centre of Excellence, FITC and Ladies teams
- Improve supporters' toilets in the St James Park away end
- Developing the Football in the Community's Street Soccer provisions in deprived estates of Exeter and surrounding areas

The most popular option as voted for by Grecian fans, will receive the £10,000 prize money.

Emma Collins, Sponsorship Manager from npower, said: "We're delighted to be handing over the prize fund to Exeter City and their fans, who clearly seized the opportunity to support their club with unrivalled passion.

"Exeter did not have the best season this year on the pitch, but clearly never lost their fans' support. It's great to be a part of this very real showing of 'Fanpower' and maybe this victory for the fans will be a good omen for the players next season."
