Tranmere are close to extending Ben Gibson's loan stay until early January.
The centre-back arrived at Prenton Park from Middlesbrough in mid-August on a month-long deal, but Rovers boss Ronnie Moore expects to extend the arrangement over the coming days.
Moore told the club's official website: "That will all be sorted next week and we'll extend it until January 2nd.
"We've agreed everything with Middlesbrough and I thank Tony (Mowbray, Boro manager) for helping us with it."
Rovers are flying high in League One after a great start to the season, with Moore's side in second place and yet to be beaten in the third tier.
