Hartlepool boss Neale Cooper plans to investigate why his players are continuously struggling with bouts of cramp.

Jonathan Franks suffered a spell in Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Carlisle just seven days after experiencing the same problem against Scunthorpe. The midfielder, along with goalscorer James Poole and defender Peter Hartley, had to be substituted against the Cumbrians as a result.

"There's an issue right now of a few of the boys really tiring - we need to have a look to see what's happening here," Cooper told the Hartlepool Mail.

"There was Jonny last week and I thought he tired again [on Saturday] and Peter got severe cramp, Pooley had it too.

"I'll have to ask the physios and the keep fit lads 'the way we train why should this happen?'.

"It's a wee issue and we need to try to get to the bottom of it."
