New Colchester manager Joe Dunne has wasted little time making his first signing having snapped up Jabo Ibehre on loan from MK Dons.

Forward Ibehre has arrived on a three-month deal having found regular first-team football hard to come by with fellow League One side MK Dons.

Ibehre, who is able to make his debut against Hartlepool this weekend, told the club's official website: "I've settled in magnificently and the lads have made me feel very welcome.

"I came into the changing room on Tuesday and knew more players than I anticipated, which was cool. Walking into a new changing room usually feels like it's your first day at school again but I knew a few faces so it was easier to introduce myself.

"I was buzzing to come here and play when I heard a couple of weeks ago that there was interest from Colchester.

"As a footballer, you just want to play so I was really happy that an opportunity had opened up. Then things changed and I was wondering what was going to happen but finally it was sorted and I'm excited to be here."
