MK Dons' home ground has been listed as a possible venue for the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
Stadium:mk is on the long list of 17 stadia published by tournament organisers England Rugby 2015, who will confirm the final list of 10-12 venues early next year once the tournament match schedule has been formulated.
Stadium:mk, which is currently being extended to a 30,500 all-seater stadium and will be complete in 2013, hosted its first rugby union match in 2008 when Saracens played Bristol Rugby. And last year Northampton Saints played their Heineken Cup quarter-final and semi-final ties in Milton Keynes in front of sell-out crowds.
Later this year the Aviva Premiership encounter between Saracens and Northampton Saints will also be staged at stadium:mk.
"It is a fantastic achievement to have been recognised alongside some of the most prestigious sporting stadia in this country," said Dons chairman Pete Winkelman. "As we have seen in recent years, stadium:mk is a magnificent venue and it ticks all the boxes for international rugby."
The World Cup will feature 48 matches over a six-week period - during the football season - from September 18 to October 31 2015.
