Iain Hume fired home a dramatic injury-time winner for Doncaster Rovers as npower League 1 leaders Tranmere Rovers slumped to their first home defeat of the season.
Hume shot low past home keeper Owain Fon Williams to snatch a 2-1 win just three minutes after Tranmere thought they had salvaged a point when Jake Cassidy equalised Billy Paynter's 48th-minute opener.
Tranmere's second straight loss cuts their lead at the top of the table to a single point after two Filipe Morais goals gave Stevenage a 2-1 win over Portsmouth. Jon Harley had briefly equalised for Pompey with a 51st-minute effort.
Sheffield United also kept up the pressure in third place with a 1-0 win over Walsall at Bramall Lane. Dean Holden was sent off for the Saddlers in the 14th minute and Nick Blackman scored the only goal of the game from the resulting penalty.
Crawley Town stayed level with the Blades after a 2-0 home win over Milton Keynes Dons. Billy Clarke opened the scoring for the hosts in the 21st minute and added his second in injury time.
Bury grabbed their first win of the season at the 14th time of asking with a 2-1 home success against Hartlepool United, who replace the Shakers at the foot of the table. Tom Hopper put the home side in front in the 37th minute and David Worrall briefly settled nerves by making it 2-0 after 55 minutes before Ryan Noble pulled one back for the visitors almost immediately.
Eddie Howe's second game back as Bournemouth boss ended in an exciting 3-3 draw with Notts County at Meadow Lane. Jeff Hughes and Yoann Arquin put County 2-0 up at the break before Josh McQuoid and a Harry Arter spot-kick levelled matters. Jamal Campbell-Rice put County back in front with an 84th-minute penalty before Matt Tubbs equalised moments after the restart.
Coventry City's sad season continued as they fell to a 2-1 defeat at Brentford, while Paolo Di Canio's Swindon Town slumped to a 2-1 defeat at Crewe Alexandra - a brace from Byron Moore cancelling out Raffaele De Vita's 25th-minute opener for the visitors.
Nicky Wroe's first-half hat-trick proved enough for Preston North End to pinch a 3-2 win over Scunthorpe United at Glanford Park while two Paddy Madden goals helped Yeovil Town ease to victory at Shrewsbury Town, James Hayter also getting on the scoresheet before a Matt Richards penalty for the home side left the final score 3-1 in Yeovil's favour.
Joe Garner scored twice and Matty Robson also notched in Carlisle United's 3-1 win over Oldham Athletic, who replied with a late Jose Baxter penalty, while goals from Anthony Wordsworth and Ian Henderson saw Colchester United win 2-0 at Leyton Orient.
