Bournemouth defender Tommy Elphick will be missing for just two to three weeks after a scan showed the centre-back had not sustained a serious injury in Saturday's win over MK Dons.

There were fears the stand-in captain had suffered serious knee damage after a two-footed tackle which saw MK Dons' Ryan Lowe given a straight red.

But a scan revealed the 25-year-old had no major injury and had sustained bruising to the tibia and femur.

Elphick has made more appearances than any other player for the npower League One promotion hopefuls this season and been a key player for Eddie Howe's in-form side.
