Bury's survival hopes have been dealt a fresh blow after Craig Jones was ruled out for the rest of the season.

The Shakers winger was reintroduced to the starting XI against Portsmouth a fortnight ago and looked to be recapturing some of his best form.

But a groin injury suffered in Saturday's 4-1 defeat to Bournemouth has brought a premature end to his campaign.

"He's in bits," manager Kevin Blackwell told the Manchester Evening News.

"Just when he's starting to show how exciting he can be, he's out for four to five weeks

"He's distraught because he was just starting to feel comfortable in the team."

Blackwell's side are currently second bottom of npower League One, six points away from safety.
