Doncaster Rovers have made an immediate return to the npower Championship, as League 1 title-winners, following a 1-0 win against Brentford at Griffin Park.

The South Yorkshire club finished rock-bottom of the Championship last term to be relegated into npower League 1, but they have made a swift return, with a win in the match that was dubbed a promotion shoot-out in West London.

A last-minute James Coppinger strike gave Rovers the victory and, courtesy of Bournemouth only managing a draw against Tranmere Rovers, the three points was enough to secure the title.

Two points seperated Doncaster and Brentford going into the match so a win for either would have sent them up, but the victory secured Brian Flynn's team's promotion.
