Manchester City midfielder Albert Rusnak has returned to the Barclays Premier League club after his loan spell at Oldham was cut short.

Rusnak was due to stay at Boundary Park until January 5, 2014 but the Slovakian is now back with City's development squad.

During his spell at Oldham the 19-year-old made three appearances with his only start coming in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy win at Shrewsbury at the beginning of this month.

A statement on the Latics' official website said: "All parties felt it was better for Rusnak to pursue the opportunities available to him with City's Elite Development Squad.

''Manager Lee Johnson says he is disappointed the loan didn't work out.''
