Port Vale manager Micky Adams has undergone a hip replacement operation.

Adams went under the knife on Monday morning and is recovering well in hospital, the club have confirmed.

He will miss the Valiants' Sky Bet League One game at Tranmere on Saturday but it is too soon to say whether he will also miss further matches during his recovery.

First-team coach Rob Page has taken over the managerial duties, with Mark Grew remaining as assistant boss.
