Colchester winger Drey Wright is set to undergo knee surgery but will only face a matter of weeks of the sidelines.
The 19-year-old Academy graduate has made a total of eight appearances this season but has not featured since the 2-2 draw at Bradford in mid-September due to injury.
However, despite needing to go under the knife, Wright is not expected to be sidelined for the long-term.
U's physio Tony Flynn told the club's official website: "Scans have revealed there is damage to the meniscus in his knee and the specialist said that surgery is needed to repair it.
"Drey will now be out of action for a few weeks but it's a relatively straightforward procedure that shouldn't cause any long-term problems."
