Brentford have won promotion from Sky Bet League 1 after a 1-0 win over Preston North End and other results went their way.

A 30th-minute penalty from Alan Judge helped the Bees to three points at home to North End, while third-placed Leyton Orient were beaten 2-1 by Crawley Town, and Rotherham United finished on the wrong end of an incredible 6-4 defeat - settled only in injury time - at the hands of league leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Bees have been in the third tier of English football for the past five seasons and were denied automatic promotion on the final day of the season 12 months ago, before losing the League 1 Play-Off Final to Yeovil Town, 2-1.
