Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson has been named the Sky Bet League 1 Manager of the Month for April.

Five wins from seven games in a busy month brought 13 goals and a return to their autumn form.

Ferguson used the positive experience of his team's Johnstone's Paint Trophy triumph to inspire a charge that earned a Play-Off place.

Dave Bassett, who chairs the Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel, said: "Darren maintained positive play during the month, especially when it became clear that the last Play-Off place was within their grasp.

"It's another exciting end to the season for Peterborough United fans."

Sky Sports' Football League pundit Don Goodman said: "Darren more than held his nerve through the difficult period when promotion looked more a dream than a possibility.

"He has got Peterborough in great form at the most important time of the season and developed a team that scores goals all just in time for the Play-Offs."

Sky Bet Head of Football Paul Wiggins said: "Peterborough's resounding 4-2 away win at Shrewsbury Town secured the Posh's chance to return to the Championship.

"Ferguson will be hoping Britt Assombalonga can add to his fantastic league scoring record in this season's Play-Offs."
