Tranmere Rovers midfielder James Rowe has signed a new one-year contract with the club.

The midfielder joined Rovers last summer after impressing during a trial and has made 23 appearances in his first season at Prenton Park.

"It was a big step for James to join our first team squad from non-league football last summer but he has adapted really well," assistant manager John McMahon told the club's official website.

"He's energetic, has good feet and vision and has a fantastic attitude. He's technically very good and I think he will get better and better the more games he gets.

"It's important the club has enthusiastic, talented young footballers and James is certainly one of those."

Rowe added: "I'm really pleased to be staying at Tranmere. I 've enjoyed my first season here and am desperate for the club to get the result it needs against Bradford and stay in League One."
