Bradford City defender Rory McArdle has signed a new three-year deal with the club.

The Northern Ireland international, 27, who made 45 appearances for the Bantams last season, will stay at Valley Parade until the summer of 2017.

"Having spoken to the manager already this summer I'm excited about the future for the club and I want to be a part of it," McArdle told the club's official website.

"The progress the club has made in the two years that I've been here already has been very impressive. To me, it shows the club is moving in the right direction.

"I think we acquitted ourselves well in League One last season and we want to continue to improve next season."

Sheffield-born McArdle, a product of Sheffield Wednesday's academy, joined Bradford from Rochdale on a free transfer in June 2012. He has made a total of 99 appearances for City, scoring seven goals.
