Aldershot Town have moved quickly to replace Kevin Dillon who left the club my mutual consent on Monday. The Shots have announced that they will appoint Newport County boss Dean Holdsworth as their new Manager at a press conference at 1.30pm on Wednesday.

A statement on the club read: "Aldershot Town are delighted to announce that they have agreed a deal, in principle, to appoint Dean Holdsworth as their new Manager, to succeed Kevin Dillon."

The 42-year-old who made over 600 appearances, scoring nearly 200 goals in a 21-year playing career has enjoyed a successful start to his management career. Last season he led Newport County to the Blue Square Bet Conference South title, amassing a record 103 points - 28 more than runners-up Dover Athletic as the Exiles ran away with the division.

They have carried that form into the current campaign and currently occupy fifth spot in the Blue Square Bet.
