Bilel Mohsni's late double salvo secured Southend United a 3-1 victory at Crewe Alexandra to keep them top of npower League 2.
The Shrimpers had been knocked off top spot temporarily as Matt Tubbs helped Crawley Town to a 1-0 victory at Northampton Town in the day's early kick-off. However, Kane Ferdinand's first-half effort looked set to propel Southend back to the top until Harry Davis levelled for Crewe.
Paul Sturrock's side peppered Alex's defence in search of a winning goal and got two in three minutes, with Mohsni netting in the 88th and then a minute into stoppage time.
AFC Wimbledon sit in the third automatic promotion spot behind Southend and Crawley after usurping Morecambe, who they beat 2-1.
Goals from Jack Midson and Christian Jolley helped the recently-promoted side recover from Stewart Drummond's opener to win at the Globe Arena.
GOALS GALORE
Swindon Town were held to a 3-3 draw by Hereford United. Goals from Raffaele De Vita and Mehdi Kerrouche saw Paolo Di Canio's side go in at the break with a two-goal cushion, which was cancelled out after the interval by Tom Barkhuizen and Yoann Arquin.
Despite the setback, Swindon regained the lead through Simon Ferry but Harry Pell's last-gasp header earned a share of the spoils.
Plymouth Argyle's match with Accrington Stanley also ended in a high-scoring draw.
After Stanley saw Sean Hessey sent off, Simon Walton scored from the resulting penalty and Ladjie Soukouna extended their advantage in first-half stoppage time.
However, 10-man Accrington responded with gusto and, after Kevin Long pulled one back for the visitors, Padraig Amond ensured they would go back north with a point from the 2-2 draw.
Finally, Shrewsbury Town finished the right side of a five-goal thriller against Barnet at Greenhous Meadow.
The Shrews' two-goal half-time lead - courtesy of Matthew Richards and Terry Gornell efforts - was wiped out as Ricky Holmes and then Mark Marshall netted.
The latter's 82nd minute goal looked to see the tie end as a draw, only for Lionel Ainsworth to score three minutes into stoppage time to secure a 3-2 win.
ELSEWHERE IN THE DIVISION
Craig Fagan's solitary goal saw Torquay United fall to a 1-0 defeat at Bradford City, who were reduced to 10 men in the 24th minute after Andrew Davies received a straight red card.
Burton Albion also grabbed a 1-0 win thanks to Justin Richards' early goal at Rotherham United, while Gillingham drew 1-1 with Port Vale, Danny Kedwell's spot-kick levelling things up after Marc Richards broke the deadlock.
Aldershot Town fell to a 2-1 home defeat to Macclesfield Town despite taking the lead through Danny Hylton as George Donnelly and Ross Draper goals turned the match.
Fans at Cheltenham Town's match with Dagenham and Redbridge witnessed three goals in a nine-minute spell, which started when Alan Bennett headed the home side in front in the 40th minute.
Jon Nurse levelled in first-half stoppage time only for the Robins to secure three points when James Spencer netted four minutes after the restart.
James Constable's brace coupled with Peter Leven's effort saw Oxford United romp to a 3-0 victory over Bristol Rovers.
