Aberdeen manager Craig Brown insists he is unaware of any interest in Rory McArdle from Southend.

Reports suggest the defender could be reunited with former boss Paul Sturrock, who he played under at Sheffield Wednesday, in a January move. However, as far as Brown is concerned, Sturrock's interest in McArdle is old news and has not been resurrected so far.

"It must be a quiet week. A year ago or thereabouts, Paul spoke to me about Rory and I told Rory and I told the media because nothing is sacred," said Brown.

"I don't know where it's come from. It's a story that must be at least six months old.

"I spoke to Rory and asked if he'd had any contact with his agent and he said no. Neither have I.

"At the moment, we've got to disregard it because there has been no contact."
