Oxford United's Ryan Clarke has been named December's winner of the Football League Precision Goalkeeping Golden Glove of the month Award.

Clarke kept a clean sheet in every game in December helping the U's two wins and two draws in League 2 and pushing them into the Play-Off places.

The former England Under 21 keeper joined Oxford United in June 2009 from Northwich Victoria and has now made over 100 appearances for the Yellows.

Precision Goalkeeping National Sales Manager Dave Sanderson presented the award to Clarke who said: "It is always nice to win awards but this is for the whole team. The defence worked very hard for those clean sheets but it is all about defending as a unit.

"You usually see awards for top scorer and it is still quite rare to see an award like this but it is great to get recognition and I am very proud to have been given this award."

The Precision Goalkeeping Golden Glove award will be presented each month to the Football League goalkeeper that has kept the most clean sheets in all competitions.

There will also be an annual award in the Championship, League 1 and League 2 for the keeper that has kept the most clean sheets throughout the season in all competitions.
