Swindon Town striker Paul Benson has been named npower League 2 Player of the Month for February.

Benson scored five goals in five games, including the winner in a 2-1 victory away at Hereford United.

Swindon Town boss Paolo Di Canio said: "Paul is the perfect professional and he looks after his body in the right way.

"When he came to us in January he joined a fantastic set of players and he has added to the group here. He has scored some key goals for us but his work-rate is amazing too."

Sky Sports' Football League expert Peter Beagrie sits on the npower Player of the Month judging panel.

He said: "Paul's seamless integration into Paolo Di Canio's Swindon project is one reason why Town fans believe automatic promotion beckons.

"He proved himself as a natural goalscorer last month, popping up with five important strikes."

npower Head of Sponsorship Emma Collins said: "Paul hasn't been at Swindon for long but the impact he's had has been immediate.

"He's contributed a number of important goals and adds vital experience to what is a very young squad.

"On behalf of npower, I'd like to congratulate Paul, and wish him the best of luck for the rest of the season."

The judging panel comprises Sky Sports Football League expert Peter Beagrie, Football League Head of Communications John Nagle, BBC Sport's Mark Clemmit and npower Head of Sponsorship Emma Collins.
