Shrewsbury Town have been promoted to npower League 1 following a 1-0 win over Dagenham & Redbridge.

James Collins header seven minutes from the break proved to be the difference between the two sides on the day.  It was their 18th win on home soil this season, a record only bettered by league champions Swindon Town.

The Shrews suffered Play-Off heartache last season, losing to Torquay United in the semi final 2-0 after finishing fourth in the table. They have gone one better this season and have secured promotion without the lottery of the Play-Offs to deal with.

Their promotion push has been built on outstanding home form which has seen them go unbeaten all season at the Greenhous Meadow. Manager Graham Turner will no doubt hope to carry that momentum as they prepare for life in League 1.
