Southend United midfielder Bilel Mohsni has been named npower League 2 Player of the Month for April.

Mohsni scored four goals in five games as the Shrimpers continued their push for automatic promotion to npower League 1.

Southend United manager Paul Sturrock said: "Bilel has been magnificent for us this month, not only in attack, but also getting his head onto everything in defence from set-pieces.

"He's had some highs and lows this season but this award should show him the sort of rewards that are available when you apply yourself.

"I'm really pleased for Bilel and hopefully he can play a vital part in helping us secure promotion this season."

npower Head of Sponsorship Emma Collins said: "Bilel turned on the style last month, scoring four important goals to keep his side in the hunt for a return to npower League 1.

"His fine hat-trick in the 3-0 home win over Barnet was the highlight of a very impressive month.

"On behalf of npower, I'd like to congratulate Bilel, and wish him the best of luck for the next season."

The judging panel comprises Sky Sports Football League expert Peter Beagrie, Football League Head of Communications John Nagle, BBC Sport's Mark Clemmit and npower Head of Sponsorship Emma Collins.
