Chesterfield manager Paul Cook is casting his eye over defender Oscar Radford.

Former Sheffield United and Doncaster centre-half Radford played the full 90 minutes of a reserve-team game against Hull this week.

With the Spireites short of defensive options ahead of Saturday's FA Cup first-round tie at home to Hartlepool, Cook is taking a closer look at the 20-year-old in training.

Neal Trotman limped out of the 4-2 defeat to Hull on Tuesday with what looked like a hamstring injury and is a doubt for the weekend, while captain Sam Hird is suspended and on-loan Huddersfield left-back Liam Ridehalgh is ineligible to play in the cup.
