Rotherham manager Steve Evans saw his team reduced to 10 men by an "x-rated tackle" on full-back Josh Morris during his side's 3-2 home defeat to struggling Wycombe.

"The referee missed an x-rated horror challenge," blasted Evans. "The challenge on Josh was an absolute x-rated over the top. I don't think anybody on the Wycombe side thought there was anything other than a red card coming.

"It doesn't help when you go down to 10 men, especially when you already have eight players missing."

Rotherham had scored after just 18 seconds when Daniel Nardiello poked the ball home from close range. The visitors equalised through a Dave Winfield header after 29 minutes, only to go behind again six minutes later to a Mark Bradley pile driver, but two goals from Mat McClure after 50 and 55 minutes gave Wycombe their victory.

And after picking up more injuries, Evans said he didn't have enough payers to go to Exeter on Saturday.

"Some of the players who were playing tonight are not good enough to play for Rotherham, but we are having to play them. We are up and down like a yo-yo at the moment, we know that, but we need our best players.

"We have got none of our best players available, and there is no hope of anyone coming back before the weekend."

Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth hailed a "fantastic performance".

He said: "It's been coming. I've been positive since the defeat on Saturday and I had to lift their spirits, but we are a real good bunch now and I can see these boys winning and losing together, battling together. The results didn't go for us in the last two games but tonight we've got the result on top of the performance.

"The game is won and lost in the box and you are not going to win games unless you stick it in the net. Matt McClure's done that and he is going to feature highly for us. He's scored two really great goals. But there is not one I can single out tonight. They've all been fantastic and the fans as well."
