Rotherham manager Steve Evans believed his side "did enough over the 90 minutes to win the game" but was happy to escape with a point after a 1-1 draw with York.
Matty Blair gave the Minstermen the lead with a goal after 63 minutes but Rotherham pulled level in the third minute of added time when leading marksman Daniel Nardiello equalised from substitute Ben Pringle's cross.
Evans said: "If I am honest our performance was a notch down on what we have been doing, but I have never seen a more fortuitous goal scored against a team as the one York got. It hit him on the back, rolled down his backside and then bounced in front of him, but to be fair he then finished it well.
"We made some substitutions after that and they made a difference and we certainly didn't deserve to lose. We probably did enough over the 90 minutes to win. If Nardiello had scored just before the break I think things would have been different and I think we would have won the game comfortably.
"York played with two banks of five and it's very difficult to break them down and that's why they draw a lot of games, but I wouldn't like to manage a team that plays like that. I think it's negative."
Evans added: "We spoke about the importance of getting the first goal because we know what they play like, but they have some talented players. We struggled to get going because we never had that spark in the first half and we were just about to make our changes when they scored.
"But we have never drawn a game here this season, so that could be a big, big point for us at the end of the season."
York manager Gary Mills said: "Our shape, our discipline and our quality was excellent. It's a hard one to take, but it's just the way it is going for us at the moment.
"You see five minutes going up as added time and in that time they got their goal. We are looking at things we could have done to avoid it, but it's happened now and it's a draw away from home. Maybe before we would have taken that.
"I thought we were different class to Rotherham tonight. I thought we played superbly well and it was an excellent performance. We haven't got what we deserved tonight and that was a win. We go away disappointed."
