The nominations for the Sky Bet League 2 Player of the Month award for August have been announced.

They are as follows:-

Daniel Bentley (Southend United)
After turning 20 in July, the youth team product kept three clean sheets during the opening month of the season. Physically imposing with a commanding presence, he saved a penalty in the win over Northampton Town and produced a string of stops at Chesterfield.

Jeff Hughes (Fleetwood Town)
A summer signing from Notts County, Hughes' eye for goal has been quickly apparent at his new club. He netted three times in five games - including the winner at Hartlepool United - and used his experience to stabilise the midfield.

Alfie Potter (Oxford United)
His strength and conditioning work to bulk up his slight frame is paying off. Potter showed his versatility, laying on two goals and scoring two more in the 4-1 win at Portsmouth, playing on the wing or behind the front men.

Gary Roberts (Chesterfield)
Roberts' driving runs and dribbling trickery inspired his side's stellar month. His three goals included turning defenders inside-out to score against Cheltenham Town and curling home a sumptuous free-kick against Southend United.

The winners will be announced on Friday live on Sky Sports News.
