Chesterfield continue to set the pace at the top of Sky Bet League 2, with victory over Accrington Stanley seeing them maintain their two-point advantage at the summit.
Tendayi Darikwa's 47th-minute goal proved decisive as the Derbyshire side took their haul to five wins and a draw from their first six games.
Oxford United maintained their momentum with a 2-0 win at Burton Albion, moving above their hosts into second place.
Burton were reduced to 10 men in the 36th minute when Ian Sharps was dismissed and the visitors capitalised in the second half with goals from Alfie Potter (49) and Danny Rose (85).
A goal in each half from Michael Smith gave AFC Wimbledon a 2-0 win at struggling York City which lifts them to third.
Fourth-placed Fleetwood Town brushed aside Torquay United, with goals from Antoni Sarcevic (10 and 37), Jamille Matt (62) and Matty Blair (90) giving them a 4-1 home win. Elliott Benyon (89) scored Torquay's only goal.
Hartlepool United scored their first goal of the League campaign, through James Poole - but it came in the last minute after Max Kretzschmar (51 and 69) had already netted twice for visiting Wycombe Wanderers.
Morecambe came from behind to surprise Southend United 3-1 at Roots Hall and climb into the top seven.
The Essex side took the lead through Kevan Hurst's goal on the half hour mark but Andrew Fleming (35 and 47) and Jack Sampson (56) turned things around, before the visitors had Robbie Threlfall dismissed.
Plymouth Argyle moved into the top half as Reuben Reid's 82nd-minute goal saw off Bristol Rovers - and 1-0 was also the scoreline at Spotland, where Scott Hogan's 36th-minute breakthrough earned a win for Rochdale - who had Peter Vincenti sent off soon after the goal - against Bury.
Portsmouth have won just one of their first six games after Cheltenham Town's Jermaine McGlashan twice pegged them back at Whaddon Road.
Patrick Agyemang gave Pompey a fifth minute lead, McGlashan levelled in the 36th, only for Johnny Ertl to restore the visitors' lead a minute before half-time. However, McGlashan scored in injury time to deprive one of the pre-season title favourites of victory.
Josh Scott gave Dagenham and Redbridge a 20th-minute lead against Exeter City but the fifth-placed Grecians earned a point through Sam Parkin's goal 10 minutes from time.
League newcomers Newport County and Mansfield Town shared two goals and two sendings off at Rodney Parade.
Chris Zebroski headed the hosts into the lead after half an hour but Sam Clucas levelled for Mansfield midway through the second half. Newport had Lee Minshull sent off 14 minutes from time, with the Stags' Matt Rhead following soon after.
The other game also finished 1-1, with Niall Canavan giving Scunthorpe United the lead midway through the second half at Northampton Town, only for the winless Cobblers to earn a point through Clive Platt's 78th minute breakthrough.
