Mansfield Town beat derby rivals and Sky Bet League 2 leaders Chesterfield 1-0 to end the Spireites' unbeaten start to the season.

A 37th-minute header from Calvin Andrew proved enough for the visiting Stags, who stand third after eight matches without defeat.

Chesterfield's miserable afternoon at the Proact Stadium was completed when striker Gary Roberts was shown a straight red card in stoppage time.

Oxford United are second, four points behind Chesterfield, after they recorded a 3-1 away win at struggling Hartlepool United, with goals from on-loan Fulham teenager Ryan Williams, Dean Smalley and an injury-time penalty from Asa Hall.

Luke James scored for the home side, who had Steve Howard sent off late on for a professional foul on Scott Davies that gave Oxford their spot-kick.

A quickfire double from Scot Bennett, who netted in the 76th and 79th minutes, gave Exeter City a 2-1 win at Fleetwood Town.

Rochdale beat Wycombe Wanderers 3-2 at Spotland. Scott Hogan, Joe Bunney and Michael Rose had the home side off to a flyer and in complete control after 15 minutes, but Wycombe's Matt McClure scored just before the half-time break and Jo Kuffour made a fight of it by netting four minutes from the end.

Jamie Cureton's goal four minutes into stoppage time gave Cheltenham Town a 1-0 home win over AFC Wimbledon.

At the other end of the table, Accrington Stanley are still bottom, but picked up a point with a battling 0-0 draw at Plymouth Argyle.

There were also no goals between struggling Northampton Town and Morecombe, while Torquay United went down 2-1 at Newport County.

York City beat Portsmouth 4-2 at Bootham Crescent to record their first league win since the opening weekend. Wes Fletcher put the home side ahead after four minutes, but Jed Wallace levelled in the 53rd minute.

However Lewis Montrose, Ryan Jarvis and Fletcher netted in eight second-half minutes to make the win secure, with John Marquis netting a late consolation for Pompey.

Burton Albion and Scunthorpe United equally shared four goals at the Pirelli Stadium, while Dagenham and Redbridge secured a 2-1 home win over Bury thanks to goals from Afolabi Obafemi and Rhys Murphy.
