Newport duo Andrew Hughes and Conor Washington have signed contract extensions to keep them with the Exiles until 2015.

Welshman Hughes, 21, has been with the club since joining their academy in 2008 and is approaching a century of appearances, while former postman Washington arrived from Cornish side St Ives last season and has adapted well to life in the Football League.

" This is great news for all concerned and we hope County fans will be as excited as the club at tying these two talented youngsters down long term," a club statement said.

"Both players are hoping to be involved in Saturday's game against Southend United and want to repay the faith shown by Newport County and assist in maintaining the momentum in place since they arrived at the club."
