Martin Riley's Achilles injury is not as bad as Mansfield originally thought.
Riley suffered the problem during the goalless draw at Bury on Tuesday night and the club feared the defender could be looking at a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
However, after closer inspection it seems the centre-half may only be out for a month at the most.
"Martin's injury looks like a slight tear in the Achilles, but nothing like we first thought," said Stags boss Paul Cox.
"We think he could be out for between two and four weeks. We initially thought it was a rupture and then you'd be looking at Christmas or the end of the season, so that's another positive.
"Martin has been playing out his skin and doing really well but it's one of those [situations] where we just have to get our heads down and get on with it."
