Fleetwood Town manager Graham Alexander has been named the Sky Bet League 2 Manager of the Month for January.

His side rediscovered its attacking flair and zest, picking up 13 points from a possible 15 during the month.

This included a thrilling 4-2 win at fellow promotion chasers Burton Albion to climb into the automatic promotion places.

Dave Bassett, who chairs the Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel, said: "Fleetwood showed excellent form throughout January, going unbeaten whilst winning four of their five matches.

"The promotion race in Sky Bet League 2 is exciting and Graham's men are well placed as we approach a key stage in the season."

Sky Sports' Football League pundit Don Goodman said: "The Cod Army's promotion charge goes on and they are within touching distance of the automatic promotion spots.

"Graham is doing an amazing job in his first post as a manager and his professionalism and attention to detail is beginning to pay dividends at the Highbury Stadium."

Sky Bet Head of Football Paul Wiggins said: "A near perfect month for the Fleetwood has seen them rise to fourth in the Sky Bet League 2 table.

"The only blot on the copy book was a 0-0 draw at Scunthorpe United where they missed a penalty - something Graham Alexander specialised in during his playing career!

"With three signings in the January window, including the highly rated Matty Hughes from non league Skelmersdale, the manager will be looking to maintain Fleetwood's push for promotion this season."
